Replacement Starting Upgrade Cards

While there are many things about the Achievements expansion that we cannot talk about, one thing that we've revealed in full is the contents of the box which players will get to open immediately. Some of the items in that box are new gray tokens for the bottom spaces of players' launch towers, offering more variety for bonuses when scheduling cruises. As many of you are probably aware, there is a module in the Accommodations expansion that includes Starting Upgrade Cards. These cards are played on players' first turns and give all players an asymmetric jump-start.

In the original design of the cards, there was a specific gray token paired up with a specific upgrade at one of the three destinations. By adding new gray tokens, this either meant that we would need to create more Starting Upgrade Cards (and would need to do so every time we decided to add more of them in the future) or that players would not be able to use the Starting Upgrade Cards module when playing with these new tokens.

Neither option felt right, so we chose a third option. Beginning with our next print run (which will begin sometime early 2026), all copies of the Accommodations expansion will have a new set of Starting Upgrade Cards that simply refer to one of the four gray slots (or brown slots) and to one of the three locations on a given destination. This ensures that when and if there are new gray tokens, or if there are ever modifications to the upgrades on the player board, the cards are universally usable.

So what does this mean for everyone?

If you do not currently own the Accommodations expansion and plan to get it during the current Kickstarter, your copy of that expansion will already come with these new cards.

If you bought the expansion previously, we will be offering a free replacement pack of cards. If you would like to receive this replacement, please submit the form below. On the form, you will select if you are backing the Achievements Kickstarter (launching September 9th and ending October 3rd, 2025). If you ARE backing at the $49 level or higher, we will include these replacement cards at no additional charge. If you ARE NOT backing, there will be a small shipping charge that you will pay when you finalize the shipment.

These replacement cards are being printed with our next print run, beginning Spring 2026 and will deliver around October 2026. Whether or not you back the new Achievements Kickstarter campaign, your cards will arrive around October 2026. If you did back the Achievements Kickstarter, your cards will arrive with your pledge. If you did not back the Achievements Kickstarter, you will receive an email from Allplay with a code to purchase the cards for free and pay for shipping.
