New Year, New Blog!
At the end of last year, as T.K. King, Dennis Northcott, and I were wrapping up our 2025 business, we got onto the topic of our business's New Year's resolutions. As someone who has a background in writing, and thanks to the encouragement of the other guys, I have decided to start this blog.
Now, the amateur detectives among you will probably be asking yourself, "Wait a minute! Isn't there already a Kinson Key Games blog, written by you, that has sat stagnant for a few years?" And the answer is: Yes. Yes there is. I thought about resurrecting it and hosting this new blog there, but I ultimately decided that a new, blank slate would be better. I am a different gamer now, and now that I'm full-time in the industry, I think my views and insights have changed pretty drastically since I last wrote on that blog.
With all that said: Welcome to Kinson Key Games - Unlocked!
Another of my New Year's resolutions: get better at using Adobe. I made this logo! I'm no Ian O'Toole by any means, but I'm pretty proud of myself!
I must admit, I was somewhat hesitant to get into board game blogging. With such stalwart bloggers already in the space (I couldn't tell you how many times I've referred to Jamey Stegmaier's treasure trove of writing), what could I possibly add to the conversation?
The answer is: we will see.
I won't be surprised if some weeks, this blog is about some behind-the-curtain look at what we're doing at Kinson Key, other weeks it's about a game I've played or experience I've had, and other weeks it's all about some personal story that's only tangentially related to board games. Consistency is key.
I do know that my next post will be about the little white lie of being a debut designer (thank you so much to the 101 backers who brought Delivirus to life in 2020!) and how Galactic Cruise, much like this new blog, was a refreshing blank slate.
